Privacy Policy

Couples Confluence (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a household and financial balance app operated by Justin Ranek, Inc., a Minnesota corporation (Minnesota Secretary of State File Number 1320858100020). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Account information
- Name and email address. You can sign up with an email and password, or with Apple or Google — in which case we receive your name and email address from that provider, never your password.
- The connection linking two partner accounts together.
Household activity data
- Contributions and household tasks you and your partner create, select, and complete.
- Weekly plans and commitments made within the app.
- Task completion status and history.
Financial contribution data
- Self-reported net financial contribution amounts entered by each partner.
- We do not access, store, or connect to bank accounts, credit cards, or any external financial institution. All financial figures are manually entered by the user.
Subscription and billing data
- Payments are processed entirely by Stripe. Card details are entered directly into Stripe's own secure checkout — they never pass through, and are never stored by, Couples Confluence.
- We store only your Stripe customer ID, subscription ID, plan identifier, and subscription status. We never see or hold card numbers, expiry dates, security codes, or bank details.
Appreciation and interaction data
- Notes and emoji-based appreciation messages sent between partners within the app.
- Love Notes. Private notes and photos you send to your paired partner are stored only until they are opened. The moment your partner reads a note, both the message and any attached photo are permanently and automatically deleted, with no copies or backups retained. There is no fixed retention window: an unopened note stays until it is read, or until an account is deleted.
Notification data
- If you enable reminders, we store a device push subscription — the notification endpoint provided by your browser or device, its encryption keys, and optionally your device type and time zone — linked to your account, so we can deliver notifications such as the weekly Sunday planning prompt.
- Turning notifications off, or deleting your account, removes these device records.
Usage data
- Basic app usage and diagnostic data — crash logs, feature usage, IP address, browser type, and security logs — to help us operate, secure, and improve the app.
2. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Calculate and display each couple's combined balance percentage across household and financial contributions.
- Enable weekly planning, commitment, and reconciliation features.
- Send optional reminder notifications (e.g., weekly Sunday planning prompts).
- Process subscription payments and manage your access.
- Send essential service messages about billing, security, and your account.
- Improve app functionality, fix issues, and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your financial or household data for advertising, and we do not use it to train third-party AI models.
3. Data sharing
Your household and financial data is visible only to you and the partner account you are connected with. Row-level security keeps every workspace sealed from other users, and we do not share this information with other users.
We share limited data with service providers who help us operate the app, under agreements that restrict their use of your data to providing those services:
- Lovable Cloud / Supabase — hosting, database, and authentication.
- Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing.
- Cloudflare — content delivery and DNS.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.
4. Data retention and account deletion
We retain your account and activity data for as long as your account is active. Love Notes are deleted automatically the moment they are read.
Deleting your account is immediate and permanent. There is no grace period and no way to recover a deleted account. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, your household and financial contribution logs, appreciation and care entries, weekly check-ins, Love Notes and their photos, your saved preferences, and any device push notification records.
Because accounts are paired, shared household records — such as the home itself and the plans, bills, and shared entries within it — remain available to your partner if they are still using the home. The shared home is deleted when its last member deletes their account. Limited records may be retained where we are required to keep them for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons.
5. Data security
We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (SSL/TLS), authenticated database access, row-level security policies, and strict access controls, to protect your information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — please use a strong, unique password.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction. You can view and edit most of your information directly within the app.
- Deletion. You can permanently delete your account and its data from inside the app at any time under Commit to It → Danger zone. Deletion is immediate and permanent, with no grace period. You may also request deletion by emailing support@couplesconfluence.com; we process those requests within 30 days.
- Notifications. You can disable push notifications in your device settings or in the app's in-app preferences.
- Additional rights. Depending on your location, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR (EEA/UK) or the CCPA (California), including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. Email support@couplesconfluence.com to make a request.
- International transfers. Your data may be stored and processed in countries other than the one you live in. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) with our providers.
7. Children's privacy
Couples Confluence is intended for adult couples and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via the app or by email, and will update the “Last updated” date above.
